Jizo is believed to be the guardian of the Earth who saves all living things after the death of Buddha, before the appearance of the benevolent bodhisattva.
The name 'Suzumushi' comes from the millions of crickets that inhabit the precincts and make beautiful sounds. The temple offers lectures along with a serving of tea and sweets.
