Tavii.com Inc. ("we" or "us") handles information about users of the website "FlipFlap Traveler" (flipflap-traveler.com, the "Service") in accordance with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information of Japan and other applicable laws, as described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect or hold the following information.

  1. Information recorded automatically when you visit
    Access logs such as IP address, browser type, pages viewed, referrer and date and time of access.
  2. Cookies and similar information
    Information collected with cookies and similar technologies by the third-party services described in Section 4.
  3. Information about people who registered as members in the past
    Information collected while the Service was accepting member registrations, such as email address, nickname, profile, country and area of residence, posted reviews, photos, comments, travel guides and tags, and cities registered as "visited" or "want to go". The Service no longer accepts registrations or posts, and we do not newly collect this information.

2. How We Use Information

  1. To provide, maintain and improve the Service
  2. To understand how the Service is used and to create statistics (in a form that does not identify individuals)
  3. To deliver advertisements
  4. To respond to unauthorized access and conduct that interferes with the operation of the Service
  5. To respond to inquiries such as requests to delete posts or to disclose personal information

3. Public Information

Reviews, photos, comments and travel guides posted by members in the past, as well as their nicknames, profiles (including country and area of residence), profile images and cities registered as "visited" or "want to go", are public on the Service. Email addresses and passwords are never made public.

4. Third-Party Services

The Service uses the following third-party services. These services may collect information about you using cookies and similar technologies, and that information is handled under each provider's privacy policy.

Google Analytics (access analysis)

We use Google Analytics, provided by Google LLC, to understand how the Service is used. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect traffic data in a form that does not identify individuals.

Google AdSense (advertising)

We use Google AdSense, a third-party advertising service. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to the Service and other websites.

For visitors from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, ads are served in accordance with Google's EU User Consent Policy. Personalized ads are shown only if you give consent through a consent message using a Google-certified consent management platform; otherwise, only non-personalized or limited ads are shown. If a consent message is shown to you, you can change your choice at any time from the privacy and cookie settings link on the page.

Maps (OpenFreeMap, OpenStreetMap)

We display maps using OpenStreetMap data delivered by OpenFreeMap. When a map is displayed, your IP address and similar information are sent to the servers delivering the map data. The program used to display maps is loaded from jsDelivr.

The "View larger map" links open Google Maps (Google LLC).

You can also disable cookies in your browser settings. In that case, some parts of the Service may not display correctly.

5. Disclosure to Third Parties

We do not provide personal information to third parties without your consent, except:

  1. when required by law;
  2. when necessary to protect a person's life, body or property and it is difficult to obtain your consent;
  3. when especially necessary to improve public health or promote the healthy development of children and it is difficult to obtain your consent;
  4. when necessary to cooperate with a national or local government body performing duties prescribed by law, and obtaining your consent would impede those duties; or
  5. when we entrust the handling of personal information to a contractor within the scope necessary to achieve the purposes of use.

6. Security

We take appropriate security measures, such as limiting access to those who need it, to prevent leakage, loss or damage of the personal information we hold.

7. Requests for Disclosure, Correction and Deletion

People who registered as members in the past may request disclosure, correction, suspension of use or deletion of their personal information. The same applies if you want your posted reviews, photos, comments, travel guides or profile deleted. Please contact us through the contact information in Section 9. After verifying your identity, we will respond promptly in accordance with applicable law.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may change this Policy when necessary. The changed Policy takes effect when it is posted on the Service.
